HOBBITS AND HIT LISTS

OK, so we've been a little slack with our blog recently, but then everything goes a little slack at the turn of the year. So many nice developments on the back of our single release, let's hope I remember them all. Let's start with the most recent: Nic Harcourt, the man who used to make your morning become eclectic on KCRW and now has an ace new show, "Connections", on KCSN, made "Holes Into The Night" his "Daily Connection", granting three prime time spins per day for a week in January. Check out the archived shows from 1/7 and 1/14 to hear him play and talk about UG. Around the same time both our videos showed up on NME.com (the UK's biggest music publication). Check them out if you haven't seen them yet.

Backtracking slightly, the end of 2011 saw our band and single getting a nice warm reception and positive reviews around the web and airwaves, making quite a few "best of" and "best new"…lists in the process. From Buzzbands LA (part of the "Fall Mix" and #44 in "Top 100 tracks of 2011") to Indie Dark Room NYC (#3 on the "Top 10 New Bands" list and #22 in "Best Tracks 2011") to write-ups and interviews from LA Underground, RockNyc, and Radio Free Silverlake, to name but few, plus nods from Germany and the UK. Needless to say we were really happy to see this reaction to the things we put our heart and soul into.

Last but not least, we got a text a couple of days back from our friend Neil, who was spinning the single at Sundance Film Festival and none other than Peter Jackson came up to ask who it was. We'd love to see a few Hobbits rock out to the strains of UG.

So it is with a nice little boost that we have started work on the full-length album. A whole batch of new tunes is in the works, and the ones you may already know are getting the pre-production treatment. Recording proper starts February 18th at Scott Gilman's Hobbyshop Studios.

We will take some time out from recording to play an LA show soon, opening for the awesome Big Black Delta at LA's Bootleg Theatre on February 22. Get your tickets here. This one will sell out for sure.
